30 Days of Thankfulness — Day 18-26

“Be thankful for what you have, you’ll end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don’t have, you will never, ever have enough.” ~ Oprah Winfrey

Day 18: Today I am thankful for long lasting friendships with Nisha, Vanessa, Amber, Caitlin, Maddy and Eva. I went to college with all of these lovely ladies and I’m so very glad we’ve remained friends since. I have shared some of my most favorite memories with these girls and can’t wait to see what our futures hold. THANK YOU for being such wonderful friends and making my life all that much better! Love you girls!

Day 19: RAIN, RAIN, RAIN! So thankful for some rain today!

Day 20: Glad that Emma gets to stay with the boys (Spanky and Rascal) while we are in the O.C. visiting Chris’ mom. It’s a huge relief knowing that she is in good hands and with pups she knows and gets along with so well. Thanks Mom and Dad for watching her!

Day 21: I am so thankful for my nephew Colton. He turns 3 today and is growing into such a sweet little boy. Three years has FLOWN by. I miss this kiddo like crazy and wish we saw him more often (he lives in San Diego). Either way, he has a very proud auntie (and uncle too) that love him lots! HAPPY BIRTHDAY COLTON!

Day 22: Thankful for a fun (but short) visit to the O.C. to see Chris’ mom. She treated us to much needed Thai massages and OMG they were fabulous! I have never had a Thai massage before and it was pretty much the best thing ever! We also had an early thanksgiving dinner which was very yummy!

Day 23: Books and the ability to read. I absolutely LOVE to read and really enjoy getting wrapped up in a story. It’s so wonderful how books provide us an opportunity to enter another world. You can check out what I’m reading on goodreads too.

Day 25: A bed and a good night’s sleep. We are in the market for a new mattress, but I am so very thankful I have a bed to sleep in. Such a small thing, but something that makes a huge difference!

Day 26: I am so thankful for my twin nieces Kendall and Madison. Today they turn ONE! I can’t believe that these little cuties are already a year old! I feel truly blessed to have them in my life and I can’t wait to watch them grow up. Love you Kendall and Madison and Happy 1st Birthday!

“Make it a habit to tell people thank you. To express your appreciation, sincerely and without the expectation of anything in return.  Truly appreciate those around you, and you’ll soon find many others around you.  Truly appreciate life, and you’ll find that you have more of it.” ~ Ralph Marston

Happy Thanksgiving Eve everyone! Hope you all enjoy yummy food, friends and family tomorrow! There is so much to be thankful for this year and really every day. Enjoy the day! ❤ ❤

30 Days of Thankfulness — Day 8-17

“Gratitude is not only the greatest of virtues, but the parent of all the others.” ~ Cicero

Day 8: Grateful for being pampered. I know it might seem silly but it’s really nice to get your hair done. Both McConnell ladies had a beauty day (Emma got groomed too!).

Day 9: Finally getting around to doing some baking. We made a favorite Chocolate Chip Pumpkin Bread yum yum yum! I’m also grateful for a hubby that likes to cook. We had fun making Southwest Chicken Chili Mac…Skillet Style for dinner.

Day 10: Being able to remain more focused during my meditation sessions. It can be so hard to shut off the mind for just 15-20 minutes… I like that I’ve been more focused. Really trying to integrate meditation into my daily routine.

Day 11: THANK YOU to all our service men and women serving and those who have served. THANK YOU for the sacrifices you have made for our freedom! THANK YOU again for your service! Happy Veterans Day! It was really nice to have a day off from work too! 😀

Day 12: Grateful for our health and the health of our friends/family! Still working on getting into shape or getting more of an exercise routine other than walking Emma. But truly thankful that Chris and I are both healthy and so are our families!

Day 13: Thankful that Chris and I both have jobs.

Day 14: Today I’m very grateful for both of my parents. My mom and dad mean the world to me and I’m so lucky to have them as parents. They have not only made me into the person that I am today, but have loved and supported me unconditionally. I’m so thankful for all that they have provided for me over the years and for all their love. I love you mom and dad!

Day 15: Spending time working around our house! Yes, we are finally homeowners! It might just be a condo but it’s all ours and a great first place to own! I’m so very thankful for my husbands patience and his eagerness to do home projects! Today we hung up some pictures, planted our succulents/mounted them to our fence, and later he built some shelves for a closet/cabinet in the kitchen!

Day 16: Today I am thankful for my friendship with a childhood friend Ann Mitchell (I talked a little about her last year). We have been friends since we were babies and today I got to attend her baby shower! I still can’t believe that she’s having a baby! I’m so excited for her and this new adventure. I’m also really grateful that we’ve remained such close friends. She’s my oldest and dearest friend and I love her so much! Can’t wait to see what else is in store for us! Thanks for being such a great friend Ann! xoxo

Day 17: Thankful for getting out of the office and having a good lunch with some colleagues. It’s was a blast to chat about our weekends and Sex & The City! If only we had cosmos at lunch!

“Life is an echo. What you send out, comes back. What you sow, you reap. What you give, you get. What you see in others, exists in you. Remember, life is an echo. It always gets back to you. So give goodness.” ~ Unknown

30 Days of Thankfulness — Day 1-7

One of my New Year’s resolutions was to keep a gratitude journal and since January 1, 2014 I have done just that. I really love this idea and feel like it has helped me stay more positive, centered and really stop to appreciate LIFE. I think we all have a lot to be thankful for and I’m excited to share again some of the things that I really appreciate. Welcome back to another 30 Days of Thankfulness and feel free to join!

“Appreciation can make a day, even change a life. Your willingness to put it into words is all that is necessary.”~Margaret Cousins

Day 1: Today I am thankful for a new month! There is always something so refreshing about the start of a new month! I’m always sad to see October go (my favorite month), but I’m ready for all that November has in store. I am also thankful for doing my second 30 Days of Thankfulness.

Day 2: So glad for that extra hour of sleep!

Day 3: Today I am very grateful for a new 21 Day Meditation Challenge with Deepak Chopra and Oprah. I’ve done a handful of these challenges in the past and really love them. Each meditation is about 20 mins. and has such powerful messages. I strongly encourage you to check them out. I was first introduce to meditation when I took Cassie Schindler’s MBSR course in 2012. It can be a struggle to keep up with a daily meditation practice, so when Deepak and Oprah have a new challenge I jump on it and get back into the swing of things.

Day 4: Voting Day! I’m so thankful to live in a country where I get to exercise my right to vote! Hope you all voted today!

Day 5: Coming home to dinner already made! LOVE my crockpot and yummy recipes! Sometimes it really is all about the small things. Dinner tonight was Crockpot Chicken Tortilla Soup.

Day 6: Watching the full moon rise was quit the treat tonight! Love being out walking my pup. We stopped a few times to take it all in!

Day 7: TGIF! It’s been a really long and crazy week at work. I’m beyond excited that it’s finally FRIDAY. Looking forward to a weekend spent with my hubby and pup!

I’ll post again in a few days…in the meantime don’t hesitate to start your own list of things you are thankful for each day.

Halloween 2014

Happy November! I am always so sad when Halloween is over, because it’s my absolute favorite holiday of the year. Don’t get me wrong, there is a lot to enjoy during the “holiday season” which I guess has officially started…but Halloween is still and will always be my favorite.

This year I feel like we were a little gypped…it’s been so darn warm all through October that it never really felt like fall. I was lucky to get some of that crispness I have been craving when I was in NYC, but I’m still hoping we get some here soon! Thursday night we spent baking/cooking Halloween treats and carving our pumpkins. They really turned out good this year and as always we had fun doing them. I love the fresh smell of pumpkins and finally lighting the candle and seeing your design come to life!

Chris’ pumpkin is on the left, then Miss Emma (carved by me hehe), and then my pumpkin on the right. Pretty spooky!

At work this year we had a potluck. I can’t remember if we did a potluck last year…I think not so it was fun to do something as an office this time. I brought Funfetti Halloween cupcakes and Lemon Orzo Salad; both were big hits! The potluck was fun and it was great that so many people dressed up! Last year I was the ONLY person dressed up haha. I think Monica wins with her AWESOME pirate face! Too cool!

We didn’t have big plans/any parties for Halloween evening, but our friends Jess and Dan came down from Oakland for the night which was awesome! We had Blue Line pizza (OMG soooooooooooo good and one of our favorite places) and watched scary movies. It was perfect for the rainy weather we were having and just an overall fun/relaxing night.

I dressed up as a ladybug and the hubby was Captain America. Best part of his costume was the kids mini-shield! Works perfectly right?!?!?! I just die laughing when I see him with the shield, too funny!

We also managed to get Emma into her pumpkin sweater for just a few quick photos. She’s not too impressed, but oh how I LOVE that face!

These two guys are my new favorite duo! Haha.

Well until next Halloween! Hope you all had a great Halloween and weekend!

Also, I will be doing the 30 Days of Thankfulness again this year so look out for my first post in a few days. Anyone who wants to join in please do! All you have to do is share something that you are thankful for each day in November. Should be fun!
