Holiday Decorations 🎄🎄

Happy Wednesday friends! Today I thought I would share some of our holiday decorations. I hate to say this, but sadly we have been really distracted by the Thomas Fire…honestly it just doesn’t really feel like Christmas. Sad I know. 😦

This year we were super excited to be in our new place and to put up lights on the outside of our house. But with the fires, we just haven’t been able to get out there and do it. The air quality has been so unhealthy that you have to stay indoors and if outside, you must wear a mask. So this year, lights are not going up outside (#bummer), just on the inside. Don’t worry, we still got a TREE and managed to put our declarations up. Our house is definitely looking more festive despite how we are feeling. Ha Ha Ha

This year we got our tree at Lane Farms. Such a cute place. Because of the fires (are you tired of hearing that yet?), we were literally the only ones looking at trees, masks and all. I think they stayed open just for us.

Since our new place has really tall ceilings, we opted for a 7-8ft tree. This is our biggest tree yet! Here are a few pictures of the whole process; getting the tree off the car, getting the tree into the house, putting lights on and getting it decorated.

Here are a few other festive decorations that we have around the house. I love all our Christmas stuff and look forward to growing our collection. This year it’s been fun finding new places to put all our stuff and making little Christmas “areas” around the house.

Last year I mentioned that my mom started collecting these ADORABLE Hallmark maxresdefaultMusical Snowmen and now we do too (proudly since 2010)! Each year, Hallmark comes out with a new musical snowman. Here is this years. So cute right?! Gosh, I just LOVE them! This website seems to have a bunch of the old ones so you can get the idea of what they look liked over the years. Found the perfect spot for our growing collection!

Thanks for taking a peek into our decorated house. Normally I love the way our home feels during Christmas, but this year it just feels off. Don’t get me wrong, we’ve been making the best of it, but this year just feels different. It’s probably because of all the fires. They’ve been the biggest distraction and have made for a much more stressful month. We are still trying to enjoy all the twinkling lights, festive decorations and making our house as cozy as possible.

Happy 7th Wedding Anniversary! 10.02.17 💕👫💕

I feel like each year our anniversary sort of sneaks up on us…and here it is already! When I really stop and think about it, it’s hard to believe SEVEN years have gone. Sometimes it feels like just yesterday we were getting married in beautiful Santa Barbara, CA. Now we are living in Santa Barbara! If you want to read all about our wedding, you can do so here.

The past seven years has brought us all kinds of ups and downs (marriage isn’t easy friends), new jobs, multiple moves/relocation’s and of course, lots of FUN! Marriage is hard and takes work, but I can’t imagine going through life’s ups and downs with anyone other than my hubby Chris. He’s caring, supportive, loving, funny and my best friend. At the end of the day he gets me and I get him. He’s my biggest cheerleader and always wants the best for me. Chris puts us first and makes sure we are creating the best life together. I LOVE YOU TOF and feel so lucky to call you my husband! THANK YOU for everything that you do and for always loving me unconditionally! ❤❤❤

Since our first anniversary we’ve been following the “traditional” anniversary gifts. This has made each anniversary so much fun and very entertaining. Ha Ha Ha. The theme for this year is copper/wool. I was reading up on the 7th wedding anniversary and found that copper has had the traditional meaning of prosperity, good luck, and good fortune. We certainly have had good fortune, especially in terms of finding one another. Wool represents the comfort, durability, security, and warmth that couples married this long give one another. Aww well that’s certainly sweet. I do feel comfort and security not only in my marriage, but in our relationship. Chris and I have been married for seven years and together for eleven. Can’t wait to see what the hubby does with this theme! He keeps teasing me that I am going to be blown away…I’m ready!

Today we are sadly both working and I have a nasty head cold. Hopefully I’ll be feeling better and we can do a little celebrating tonight. Last night we were supposed to go to dinner at Stella Mare’s (this is where we had our rehearsal dinner), but I was feeling too under the weather. We both wanted to enjoy our dinner at such a special restaurant, so we will go another time. It was so very sweet of Tof to make reservations for us and I felt terrible we had to cancel. But last night would not have been as much fun. I’ll be sure to do a follow up post of how we celebrated later this week and of course to share how our copper/wool themed gift exchange went.

Cheers to us on seven years of marriage! Here’s to many more years together filled with LOVE, LAUGHTER and HAPPINESS! ❤

Happy Mother’s Day! 💕

HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY to this amazing lady that I get to call Mom!

I seriously can’t imagine life without her. She’s so caring, loving, full of wisdom and tells the best stories! I hope that some day I can be just as good of a mom as is.

mother's day

THANK YOU Mom for everything that you do! I love you so much and feel so lucky to have you as my mom! 💕

And a very Happy Mother’s Day to all the other moms out there! More and more of my friends have littles now and its been fun to see them in this new role. You all are such ROCK STARS and truly fabulous moms! Motherhood looks good on you. Proud honorary auntie over here. 💕

Happy St. Patrick’s Day 🍀

Here are a few Irish blessing that I really like and wanted to share on this St. Patrick’s Day! Such sweet little messages and blessings. Hope you enjoy! 🍀🍀🍀

Today I am rocking this Bill Murray shirt from the Chive. My hubby loves these shirts and I have become a big fan too! Naturally we just HAD to get them for St. Patty’s Day. I’ll be sure to get a picture of us both wearing them later tonight.

Although I’m not actually Irish, I love any excuse to celebrate a holiday! I think I get a few extra points, because I did marry an Irish guy who is also a redheaded. Double win for me! He He He

Hope everyone has a WONDERFUL and very LUCKY day! Happy St. Patty’s Day! 🍀🌈💚🍀💚🍀🌈💚🍀

P.S. I know I haven’t blogged lately…just way too busy. I will try and catch up or at least get back to posting on a more regular basis. Thanks for reading!

TGIF…We Made It

Man, this first week back to work after the holiday break was brutal. Agreed? Everyone at our house (including the pups Emma & Dash) had a hard time adjusting back to the work-week-routine. I think we all got pretty used to sleeping in and relaxing during the break…having to get up early again was a little hard.

This is totally how I feel today. Happy dance! Happy dance! Happy dance! YES, I am certainly SMILING since it’s finally FRIDAY!!! Waaahoooo!!! I don’t even care (well I do a little) that we have a staff meeting this afternoon at work haha.

What’s everyone up too this weekend? Any fun plans? I think we (in CA) will be getting more rain which is awesome! On Saturday we are going to a couples baby shower (I have another one next weekend!) and that’s about it. I’m looking forward to just relaxing after a hard first week back. TGIF everyone and happy weekend! Hope it’s wonderful and we’ll see you next week!

Holiday Traditions: SF Nutcracker

It’s that time of year again…SF Nutcracker time! This is our 5th year going and one of my favorite holiday traditions! You can read about previous visits here: 2014, 2013. Sadly, no blog posts from 2012 or 2011.

The SF Nutcracker is a really fun and beautiful production! Like I say every year, if you haven’t seen it before I highly recommend it. It’s so much fun to see the War Memorial Opera House all decked out in lights and holiday trimmings. Going to see the Nutcracker really is one of my (our) favorite holiday traditions and I look forward to it every year!

As you all know, ballet holds a very special place in my heart so I always love to see the Nutcracker. Like always we ate at our favorite Thai place, Lers Ros. Kind of funny that we eat at a Thai restaurant during Christmas time…I guess it’s like the family in A Christmas Story eating at the Chinese restaurant hehe. Love our tradition! Chris and I always talk about switching it up, but we always end up at Lers Ros. Seriously one of the best Thai places around.

I LOVE seeing City Hall in its green and red lights. Got some great photos outside before heading in.

Keeping up with tradition, we always have to take a few pictures in front of the gorgeous tree inside! So glad my hubby is always willing to pose for pictures himself and with me! I sure got lucky with this one ❤

They always have a spot light on the tree, which makes it really sparkle, however, getting a good picture can sometimes be tricky. I still think we got some good ones though. And how good does my hubby look in a bow-tie?! Pretty cute I think. 😉

This year we paid a little more and sat in the orchestra section. Best decision ever! We had a great view of the stage and really enjoyed the performance. SF Ballet sure didn’t disappoint. Another fantastic show in the books and already looking forward to next year! 🙂

As promised here is an adorable picture of our freshly groomed schnauzers, Emma and Dash in front of our tree. Little do you all know I’m standing behind Chris and the camera yelling “look,” “look,” “look” holding lots of treats! Our groomer Claudia did an excellent job on the pups. So glad they got cleaned up just in time for Christmas.

One of my other favorite traditions during the holidays is looking at Christmas lights. We were supposed to look at lights in Willow Glenn with our friends Dan & Jess on Friday, but sadly we had to cancel.  I finally caught that nasty cold that’s been going around so I was totally out of commission. I know we are cutting it close to Christmas, but there is still time to see some lights! I’m sure we will drive around at some point, just might not make it a huge production like in years past. What are some of your holiday traditions?

Hope you all are having a happy + merry Christmas week so far!! I just have a few more days of work (last day is Wednesday) and then we are BOTH off until January 4th! Can’t wait to celebrate with our family and friends!

On Saturday we took a quick (and early) flight down to Orange County to go to DISNEYLAND just for the day. Although it was a loooooong 21 hour day we had an absolute blast! Here are a few pictures from the plane and our poor pups who were very confused why we were up at 4:30AM.

In looking back at all of our pictures,  we look like two kids in a candy store…so happy to be at the “happiest place on earth!” My mother-in-laws neighbor works for Disney and is the one who got us the passes. She is the sweetest and most generous person ever! Thanks Amy for the passes! We sure made use of every minute of our day at the parks!

When we first got into the park we headed straight to Space Mountain and got our fast-passes. They changed the ride to Star Wars theme so it’s been even more popular than normal. Luckily, we got the fast-passes because the wait time at 10am was 120+ minutes. Yikes!

Our first ride of the was the Matterhorn and a great way to start the day! The park was super crowded (wasn’t really expecting that) but we got on all of our favorites rides, some of them even more than once!

Below we have the Matterhorn, Mr. Toads Wild Ride, Indiana Jones and Space Mountain.

You can’t go to Disneyland and not get a churro! OMG so delicious! More of our favorite rides: Big Thunder Mountain (my absolute FAVORITE), Pirates of the Caribbean and The Haunted Mansion. I’m not a huge fan of the movie The Nightmare Before Christmas, but I do love Halloween. So fun to see the Haunted Mansion decked out in Christmas and lots of jack-o-lanterns.

After cashing in our fast-pass for Space Mountain (which was awesome btw), we decided to head over to CA Adventure. I seriously LOVE how the parks look all decked out in lights and holiday decor. So festive!

We only did two rides, Cars and the Tower of Terror. Well, actually only Chris did Tower of Terror …I chickened out in the end. Waited in line with him right up until the last minute and then I just couldn’t do it. Sorry!

We found out that the best way to do Cars is the single rider line! In doing this, we only waited in line for about 30 mins! Genius! I love that ride…so totally cool. I have to say that it always AMAZES me how they actually make the rides. Everything is done so perfectly and you feel totally transformed to another land or world. I guess that’s the whole point, but still. I just feel in such awe sometimes on the rides…

Check out all the adorable holiday decorations! Love it! Disney is so very clever and I just can’t get enough!

After CA Adventure we headed back to Disneyland for dinner and to finish out our night with more rides. YES, our goal was to make it to midnight and we were not going to let anything get in our way of accomplishing that hehe. On the way back in, we stopped at the entrance and took a bunch of pictures! It was so crowded earlier in the day that we decided it would be best to take these pictures later. Perfect timing because there weren’t as many people and all the lights were on. We also didn’t have to fight off other people who wanted their picture with the classic entrance.

In addition to all the lights/decorations Disneyland puts up for the holidays, I loved everything they did for the 60th Diamond Celebration! There were diamonds everywhere! The castle looked particularly stunning in honor of the 60th anniversary!

Well we MADE IT! We left the park at exactly 12:01AM. I still can’t believe we made it that long after having gotten up at 4:30AM. We sure took full advantage of our park hoppers and really made the most of our quick trip!

Until next time Disneyland! We love you and can’t wait to go back! ❤️💎❤️💎

Hope you all had a great weekend and that your Monday is off to a great start.
